Follow-Ups, News

Some actually good news, if it's true. The Guardian reported today that no state money will be used to pay for Chancellor Fox's $6,500-a-month house. Apparently the university has funds "from a private donation given to [the university] years ago that has been used by the president to address the maintenance of chancellors' residences," UCOP's director of communications Brad Hayward is quoted as saying. Hey, it's still a ridiculous amount of rent, but at least it's not a ridiculous amount that we, and other California taxpayers, are paying for.

And remember how the whole reason Fox is getting the fancy rental property is because University House, her normal digs, was deemed uninhabitable? Well, according to Hayward, the rebuilding of that property will be funded by donations instead of taxpayer funds. Not sure which fat cat would be willing to cough up some cash just to give Fox a bangin' crib, but one is sure to materialize. We can sure hope.

Of course, the invitation to have tea parties on Fox's front lawn still stands.
