Safe Rides, Sloshed Students
News

vomit_tn.jpgKian Maleki, the A.S. Commissioner of Services, asked us to pass along news of a change in Triton Taxi. Don't worry, kids, Joe Watson hasn't succeeded in killing off Triton Taxi. The program has simply been replaced by a new program called A.S. Safe Ride.

The new program is the same as the old one. If it had a cheesy advertising campaign, the slogan would be "new name, same great service!" Word has it the name change was carried out to curtail students' usage of Triton Taxi as an actual taxi—to get to the store, the movies, that sort of thing. Now, A.S. Safe Rides can focus once again on dragging drunken revelers back home on Friday and Saturday nights.

UCSD students need to re-register to use the new program, which will take over for Triton Taxi after October 31st. Go to the senate chambers, on the third floor of Price Center, with your student ID so they can give you the new sticker. And don't ask us where the senate chambers are—we have no frickin' idea.

Oh, and while you're there, you might as well thank Kian Maleki for taking over from Kelly Vasant, whose inept handling of Cloud 9's contract last year cost us all $20,000 it shouldn't have. Also, thank A.S. for funding a program that's actually valuable and useful to students. You do like being able to escape from lame parties after you've single-handedly finished their one, lonely six-pack of Natty Ice, don't you?
