Cultural Sensitivity?
Events Today, in honor of Native American Month, Sixth College carted a bus full of students to Viejas Casino. Whoever thought this was a good idea should be smothered with small pox blankets. Take this opportunity to celebrate Native American Month! This free trip includes a tour, lunch at the casino buffet and free time to enjoy shopping at the outlets, etc. I'd personally prefer to celebrate with a wheelbarrow full of peyote buttons washed down with a couple gallons of mescal for good measure—but that's just me. Nom de Guerre, Dec 03 2004, 03:46 PMFirst of all, it's all six colleges and not just Sixth College. Also, the students on the trip will still learn about history as well as supporting the Indian tribe running the casino. on December 4, 2004 10:15 PM

If you ask me, giving the Indians casinos has to be demotivating for them. Who wouldn't wanna drink a lot if the main point of the tribe was to run a freaking casino? on December 5, 2004 03:47 AM
It's an education on exploitation! First, the Americans exploited the Indians, and now it's time to turn the tables! Learn exciting topics such as the laws of probability and the gambler's ruin. You'll almost WISH your retirement pension was burned through this way. on December 5, 2004 02:16 PM
