Ask A Librarian
Events

I received an email about "an exciting new service" being planned for the winter quarter. This "exciting new service" is the ability to ask librarians questions, only digitally instead of in person.

Try our new instant messaging service, Ask a Librarian Live! http://sshl.ucsd.edu/chat

The UCSD Libraries are piloting an exciting new service this Winter Quarter.

Using Ask a Librarian Live! you can chat with librarians who will:
** answer specific questions about your research
** clarify which resources will work best for your topic
** find the perfect book, database, or article on your topic

Ask a Librarian Live! is available Sunday - Thursday 6:00 p.m. - 9:00
p.m. Winter Quarter.

Somebody please tell me why the hell this is a necessary service? I would have thought that, if one needs to ask a librarian something, one would go to the library and ask the fucking librarian. How often does one feel the need to talk to a librarian without actually being in a library? A part of me, the part that doesn't quite hate all of humanity yet, refuses to believe that UCSD students are so afraid of human interaction that this service is actually a necessity. Please prove that part of me correct.
